Coaching
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance. The learner is sometimes called a coachee.
Occasionally, coaching may mean an informal relationship between two people, of whom one has more experience and expertise than the other and offers advice and guidance as the latter learns; but coaching differs from mentoring by focusing on specific tasks or objectives, as opposed to more general goals or overall development.
Overview of Coaching
Coaching is a term for a form of conversation or questioning technique which goes a step deeper than an ordinary conversation and which involves the whole "wheel of life".
A session typically starts with a free half-hour conversation so we both feel comfortable. Next, we arrange a session where we together clarify your personal and professional values.
What motivates you to achieve your goals and what prevents you from achieving them. I support you to find the resources that can help find a solution that creates the changes that are necessary for you to achieve the desired result.
I help you find your inner answers, discover new opportunities and develop forgotten resources in both private and professional life.
As your coach, I help you find your inner
resistance, your inner obstacles. The internal
obstacles are often greater than the external
ones and you learn to develop a natural ability
to solve your challenges yourself.
You get concrete tools to be able to release thoughts and life patterns that inhibit full life fulfillment and you learn to use the creative part of the psyche, where you will find life, joy and meaning.
Applications
Coaching is applied in fields such as sports, performing arts (singers get vocal coaches), acting (drama coaches and dialect coaches), business, education, health care, and relationships (for example, dating coaches).
Coaches use a range of communication skills (such as targeted restatements, listening, questioning, clarifying, etc.) to help clients shift their perspectives and thereby discover different approaches to achieve their goals.
These skills can be used in almost all types of coaching. In this sense, coaching is a form of "meta-profession" that can apply to supporting clients in any human endeavor, ranging from their concerns in health, personal, professional, sport, social, family, political, spiritual dimensions, etc.
There may be some overlap between certain types of coaching activities. Coaching approaches are also influenced by cultural differences.
